Hibberdene Care Centre was established in 2001 to serve the needs of the community in the form of an old age home by Felicity Govender. Due to the dire need for a transitional and residential facility for persons needing mental health services the core functions of Hibberdene Care Centre was changed in March 2016.
Hibberdene Care Centre provides a transitional and residential treatment program for adults age 18 and over with a comprehensive and holistic approach to managing sub-acute and persistent mental health disorders. We provide personalized care that helps individual understand and effectively manage their illnesses and symptoms so they can learn to live their lives as independently as possible.
Our program is ideal for those individuals who have a primary diagnoses such as depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, with or without co-occurring conditions such as substance abuse, mood, personality and anxiety disorders. The average length of stay at the Hibberdene Care Centre is between two to three months , however some service users stay longer periods of treatment where clinically indicated.
Hibberdene Care Centre can accommodate 20 residents in tranquil, peaceful and stress free environment a with endless ocean view, where service users can focus on their treatment and recovery process. Hibberdene Care Centre is also a residential facility and accommodates permanent residents. The building boasts spacious double rooms, spacious two common living areas, kitchen and dining area. Our treatment approach is based on a Recovery Model designed for flexibility in which residents/service user’s work with a designated social worker and other multi-disciplinary team members, to progress at a pace most appropriate for the individual
Support from family, relatives and friends plays a very significant role in the recovery process and long term success. The individual and his or her family are continually involved in his or her treatment planning process, ongoing updates and aftercare planning.
